Nintendo MotionPlus for Wiimote on June 8
They've been in motion for awhile, but Nintendo has set a date of arrival for the MotionPlus extension of the Wiimote: June 8th. The MotionPlus add-on aims to bring better interactive motion and gameplay interfacing (more accurate waggling) to the Wii.They may not sell like hotcakes (read: Wii consoles or Wii Fit before Christmas), but Nintendo (and hardware partners InvenSense) have been producing mass quantities for a while to accommodate the droves of people waiting to add a cartridge to their controllers.
The release date assures that we'll be hearing about these add-ons at E3 2009. We also expect manufacturers of protective skins/covers/jackets are adequately prepared (or will be soon) to accommodate the added girth agility.
The MotionPlus will retail at $19.99, and will be bundled later in the summer with Wii Sports Resort (a game that actually requires the gyroscope/accelerometer controller plug) for $49.99.
