This is where it is, this is what Intervals was created for, project management - remote, out of the office project management. With Intervals you can easily manage projects, tasks, budget, invoices and time, and they offer a wide variety of reports.

With the exception of the free version, Intervals can support many projects at once (up to unlimited with the Top Shelf plan), and they all support unlimited users. In terms of projects you can easily track tasks, budget, time and payments. It can send out automatic emails to project members when they are assigned a task and you can send members messages. All plans have space for document storage, which include customizable permissions. Documents can be tagged so you can find them easily by search term and it even supports versioning, so each iteration of your file can be saved.

Tasks can be created easily, and automatic emails and reminder emails can be sent out. Data can be exported as a CSV file and you can use milestones to group tasks and manage deliverables.

Intervals has invoicing ability which is a great tool for small businesses that do not want to have to use a separate program to do that (like Excel, which can create invoices but will not track them for you). This service will help you create invoices and send them to your clients and track payments received. It will even email you when an invoice is overdue.

Intervals also tracks time spent on a project. You can actually set a timer and have it track the time (to the minute) automatically or you can enter your own time. It will also track time spent per client. Intervals supports time sheets and can compare billable and non-billable time.

In terms of reporting, it offers a variety of different reports, including pie charts, weekly trends, project activity, summaries, break downs, cross charts, balances and more. Reports can be filtered by time, person, project, work type, task and more.

As far as project management goes, Intervals does very well and is a good choice for consultants and small businesses.

Ease of Use:  

We found this service incredibly easy to use. All sections of the program are well labeled and include helpful drop down menus and the like. The folks behind Intervals definitely have a sense of humor, which you will notice from time to time when reading through some of their descriptions, blogs and website. This fun attitude makes work a little bit more enjoyable. In addition, you do not have to download software to use this service, so you do not have to worry about a complicated installation process and you can easily explain to your clients how to use the client area of the program.

You can contact Pelago by telephone or email. They post tons of information online in their forum and on their blog. They also post some tutorials, tips and tricks and more.
