Creating a new project in Clarizen takes little more than a click of the mouse. The interface lets you add and delete tasks and milestones with the ease of a word processor. Large icons let you update tasks, add notes, upload documents, insert dependencies and add various resources.
Upon signing onto the program management software, Clarizen opens with the dashboard, which lets you see your projects and their states of progression. The dashboard also includes updates on tasks—if they’re on schedule, pending or delinquent. With a click of the mouse, you can navigate between projects, resources, uploaded documents, notes and more, to better manage and keep your projects up-to-date.
The most unique feature to Clarizen is its roadmap—a linear timeline of your projects’ milestones, their progress and projected completion dates. Viewing both the roadmap and task panels in the same window lets you manage tasks while seeing real-time updates to your project. Clarizen has now also incorporated the popular Gantt chart view for further tracking task duration.
The email-style interface is the key to Clarizen’s ease of use. Project folders and related task lists prompt group folders and related emails. When you log onto the project management software, the dashboard lists the projects and tasks to be completed that day. The large icons eliminate the mess of scanning cluttered lists. Clicking on a folder icon opens a window with two panels—a breakdown of tasks (the progress, manager and resources of each) and a roadmap. But you can customize the interface to include panels for notes, alerts, attached documents and more.
Updating tasks and milestones can all be done in the same window—no clicking back and forth required. You can also accomplish this with keyboard navigation, similar to word processing, which eliminates clicking the mouse in each individual field. Because the program management software runs online, any updates you make save automatically.
